Time has come to dig the grave and build a stone to throw it to the face of the 60's Garage Planet ! Well, this 5th issue of the Garage Rock Playlist is heavy, sharp and will damage your mind ! Bands mostly come from Europe (France, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg), South America (Mexico) and even Australia !

The Norvins "Time Machine" by Twang Tone

"The Norvins – Time Machine (LP/CD, Soundflat Records)
Auch wenn man Franzosen in punkto Rock’n’Roll im Allgemeinen mit größter Vorsicht begegnen sollte, hier haben wir es mit einer der wenigen löblichen Ausnahmen zu tun. Diese Burschen aus Paris haben den originalen Garage Beat und Pop ganz offensichtlich sehr akribisch studiert und verinnerlicht. Keiner ihrer Tracks ist länger als drei Minuten. Oft sind sie sogar unter zwei Minuten. Und so hat auch das komplette 14 Track Album nur 28 Minuten Spielzeit. Gitarren von Mosrite und Fender, Bässe von Vox und Rickenbacker, Orgel Marke Farfisa, nur bei den Drums ist die Marke nicht ersichtlich. Die eigenen Songs der Boys kommen durchaus stilecht und hinreichend originell daher, jedoch die eindeutig besten Tracks sind die beiden Coverversionen „Nothin’“ (Ugly Ducklings) und „Abba“ (The Paragons). Insgesamt macht die Platte aber viel Spaß. Auch optisch legen die Herren Wert auf Authentizität. Schmale schwarze Krawatten, weißes Hemd bzw. dezentes Punkt oder Karo Design, dunkles Sakko oder Jacket, Chelsea Boots und enge schwarze Jeans. Bei der Haartracht ist eher Freestyle angesagt. Zwei der Musiker tragen ihr nur spärlich vorhandenes Haupthaar sehr kurz, zwei tragen ihre Wuschel in Existenzialisten Manier bis knapp über die Ohren, nur einer lässt die Loden lang und lockig hängen bis auf die Schultern. Am Freitag, dem 13. Februar 2009, spielen The Norvins übrigens im Bassy, im Prenzlauer Berg. Da kann man sich dann persönlich von ihren Qualitäten ein Bild machen. ***1/2"
